A Fun-Filled Day for the Whole Family...
Airport Festival 2026
On Austria’s National Day, 26 October 2026, Innsbruck Airport will open its doors from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for its popular Airport Festival. Under the motto “Amazement and Excitement”, visitors can look forward to a varied programme featuring impressive aircraft, spectacular demonstrations, fascinating insights into the world of aviation, and plenty of attractions for visitors of all ages. Admission is free.
“The Airport Festival is a fantastic opportunity to experience the diverse world of aviation up close and take a look behind the scenes at the airport. We are looking forward to spending an exciting and varied day with our guests. Preparations are already in full swing,” says Innsbruck Airport Managing Director Marco Pernetta.
Aircraft Up Close and Spectacular Demonstrations
One of the special highlights will be the large aircraft and helicopter exhibition on the apron.
Participating aviation companies and associations include Aerobats, Flugsportzentrum Tirol, Innsbrucker Segelfliegervereinigung (ISV), ÖAMTC Air Rescue, Heli Austria (Tyrol base), Kitz Air, Wucher Helicopter and Diamond Aircraft Industries.
The Austrian Armed Forces will also be present, bringing an S-70 Black Hawk and an AW169 “Lion” to Innsbruck. A flypast by a C-130 Hercules and a formation flypast by two Eurofighters are also sure to attract plenty of attention.
The legendary Flying Bulls are also expected at Innsbruck Airport during the course of the day.
Spectacular glider aerobatics, model aircraft aerobatics, motor glider demonstrations and an impressive firefighting demonstration featuring a police helicopter will take place throughout the day.
In addition, the airport fire brigade will showcase its impressive Panther fire engine, while Innsbruck Airport’s own fleet of large operational vehicles and equipment will also be on display.
Those who would like to take to the skies themselves can enjoy the Tyrolean mountains from a bird’s-eye view on sightseeing flights offered by Heli Austria (Tyrol base) or Wucher Helicopter for a fee.
At Kranebitter Allee, Flugsportzentrum Tirol and Innsbrucker Segelfliegervereinigung (ISV) will showcase the fascination of gliding and powered flight. A bouncy castle will be available for children, and food and drinks will also be provided. A shuttle service will operate between Kranebitter Allee and the airport grounds at Fürstenweg.
Fun and Action for the Whole Family
In the parking areas in front of the terminal, numerous organisations and associations will present their work and will be happy to answer visitors’ questions. Participants include the Austrian Armed Forces, the Tyrolean Red Cross, the police, the fire brigade, the Samaritan Association, Innsbruck’s Mobile Monitoring Group (MÜG), GeoSphere Austria, HTL Kapfenberg, the Flyboys and ÖAMTC.
Sports fans will also have plenty to enjoy: the Swarco Raiders Tirol and the Haie will provide sporting action and opportunities for visitors to get involved.
Younger visitors can look forward to a colourful children’s programme featuring bouncy castles, giant slides, a children’s carousel, a painting station and arts and crafts activities.
Inside the terminal, Austro Control will provide insights into the work of air traffic control. The popular collectors’ exchange organised by the Friends of Innsbruck Airport (FDFI) will also invite visitors to browse and discover.
Visitors who would like to combine their day at the Airport Festival with supporting a good cause can take part in the Tyrolean Red Cross blood donation campaign on the first floor.
Music and Entertainment Take Centre Stage
The ORF Radio Tirol stage will provide a lively atmosphere with a recording of the popular radio programme “Musiktruch’n”. The entertainment programme will be rounded off by live performances from TakeTonic and Gregor Glanz, as well as magician and entertainer Markus Gimbel.
Local Food and Drink
Once again this year, local catering providers will offer a selection of food and drinks throughout the festival grounds. These include Eurest, which operates the airport restaurant FLY INN, catering company CN9 and Bäcker Ruetz.
Travelling by Public Transport Recommended
As parking at the airport is very limited, visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport.
In addition to the regular IVB bus line F, free shuttle buses will operate between the airport and the car parks at the DEZ and Cyta shopping centres, as well as Innsbruck Central Station, with an intermediate stop at Landhausplatz.
Programme subject to change.
