Noise Protection Subsidies

The legally defined threshold for general aircraft noise exposure (Lden) is 65 dB. According to the official evaluation published for the last time for the year 2022 on the website laerminfo.at of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK), this value was not exceeded at a single building in the immediate vicinity of the airport.

However, following a first voluntary reduction of this threshold to 60 dB in 2014, TFG agreed with the City of Innsbruck in 2018 to further lower the threshold to 55 dB. The aim is to significantly expand the number of eligible applicants for noise protection windows and thereby achieve noticeable improvements for residents. The airport provides an annual budget of up to EUR 200,000, with applications processed by the Housing Subsidy Office of the City of Innsbruck to ensure optimal information and support for applicants.

As of 1 July 2024, the noise protection subsidy scheme has been extended to the neighbouring municipality of Völs. An annual budget of up to EUR 50,000 is available for subsidy applications in this area.
