Last week, Innsbruck Airport and Alpenzoo jointly celebrated the 10th anniversary of the bearded vulture sponsorship, right inside the aviary of the two sponsored birds, Romeo and Juliet. What began ten years ago with two young birds has since developed into a successful bearded vulture breeding programme.
To create the best possible conditions for the upcoming breeding season, Airport Managing Director Marco Pernetta and André Stadler, Director of Alpenzoo, placed nesting material in the home of the bearded vulture pair. The team at Alpenzoo is hopeful that these rare birds of prey will once again produce offspring next year. Fingers crossed!
