On the coming Sunday, the official switch to the winter flight schedule will take place. The resumption of the important Frankfurt route and the increase in frequencies on the Vienna route represent the first major highlights of this winter schedule. In the course of December, the brand-new routes to Madrid, Warsaw and Riga will be launched. In addition, this winter season will see a number of frequency increases. Between December 2024 and April 2025, a total of 27 destinations will be served to and from Innsbruck, offering up to 171 flights per week.
After a pause of several months, the first direct flight to Frankfurt will take place again this coming Sunday. The route had been temporarily suspended at the end of March 2024 due to capacity constraints within the Lufthansa Group. The resumption of the daily Frankfurt connection with the 2024/25 winter flight schedule, operated by Lufthansa subsidiary Air Dolomiti, therefore represents a very positive development. Efforts are currently ongoing to secure year-round operations beyond the winter season. In addition, Austrian Airlines will expand its Vienna services for the winter season by adding an extra daily frequency, offering up to three flights per day.
New highlights for winter 2024/25
In the 2024/25 winter season, a total of 27 destinations in 17 countries will be served to and from Innsbruck. Among them are three completely new destinations: Madrid with Iberia (twice weekly), Warsaw with LOT Polish Airlines and Austrian Airlines (once weekly each), and Riga with airBaltic (once weekly). All new routes will commence during the course of December. Existing connections to and from Amsterdam, Athens, Birmingham, Brussels, Hamburg and London Heathrow will see increased frequencies.
As a result, the total number of connections in the 2024/25 winter season will reach up to 171 flights per week to and from Innsbruck. From the particularly important UK source market, there will be up to 55 weekly connections, and up to 46 from the Netherlands. The number of international hub airports connected to Innsbruck this winter is also impressive: with Amsterdam, Athens, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Warsaw and Vienna, passengers will have access to seven major hubs offering worldwide onward connections.
Thanks to the strong winter flight programme, Innsbruck Airport is looking ahead to the upcoming winter season with optimism. For the 2024 full year, passenger numbers are expected to reach around 860,000, depending on weather conditions in the coming weeks.
