Press Release – 20 November 2025

With an impressive illustrated volume by Dr Tanja Chraust, Innsbruck Airport brings its major anniversary year to a close. The book is now available from selected bookshops and directly at the airport. The official book presentation took place on 18 November.

The presentation of an impressive illustrated volume by Dr Tanja Chraust marked the conclusion of the anniversary celebrations at Innsbruck Airport. Under the title “100 Years of Innsbruck Airport 1925–2025”, the renowned aviation historian documents the development of the airport and its significance for the region over more than 300 pages. The publication is vividly illustrated with large-format photographs, including numerous images published for the first time.

The historical review spans from the early days of aviation before the airport was established, through the first Innsbruck Airport (1925–1947), the Innsbruck West/Kranebitten site (1948–1965), and the further development of the present airport from 1965 to the present day.

Around 150 guests accepted the invitation to the book presentation on 18 November and immersed themselves in the eventful history of the Alpine airport. Host and Airport Managing Director Dipl.-Ing. Marco Pernetta paid tribute to Dr Chraust’s commitment:
“We are proud to have Dr Chraust, a renowned historian who dedicates her work and research entirely to aviation.” He added: “We are delighted that this illustrated volume not only documents the history of the airport, but also tells an important part of Innsbruck’s urban history.”

The bilingual publication (German and English) has been self-published and is now available from selected bookshops and directly at Innsbruck Airport.

The book was produced with the kind support of the cooperation partners EAS Envimet Analytical Systems, Innsbruck Tourism, ORF Tirol, Tiroler Sparkasse, and the Association of Austrian Airports (AÖV).
