Press Release – 10 October 2025

This year, Innsbruck Airport is celebrating its 100th anniversary. A special highlight of the anniversary year took place yesterday, 9 October, with the opening of a newly designed photo exhibition featuring previously unpublished images.

With a selection of 25 previously unpublished photographs, an impressive exhibition at Innsbruck Airport documents the airport’s development over several decades. The historical images provide fascinating insights – from the early beginnings in Reichenau, through the relocation to Ulfiswiese on Kranebitter Allee and the renaming to “Innsbruck Airport Kranebitten”, to the present location at Fürstenweg and its continuous development since the 1960s. The exhibition was officially opened yesterday in the terminal. Around 40 invited guests attended the event, including the granddaughters of aviation pioneers Raoul Stoisavljevic and Alfred von Eccher, whose contributions played a significant role in the history of aviation in Tyrol. The exhibition was curated by the renowned aviation historian Dr Tanja Chraust, who also led the presentation at the opening event. With great expertise and passion, she selected the photographs and accompanying texts, which are now accessible to a wide audience on the gallery level on the first floor of the airport terminal.
