In the major anniversary year of Innsbruck Airport, the Open Day attracted more than 25,000 visitors to the airport throughout the day.
“We can look back on an all-round successful day with an excellent atmosphere, many amazed faces and extremely good luck with the weather,” said Airport Managing Director Marco Pernetta in his very positive summary. He added: “We are truly delighted that we were once again able to welcome so many visitors to our traditional airport festival.”
On the apron side, a wide range of attractions invited visitors to marvel, discover and experience, including:
An aircraft exhibition featuring aviation companies and associations such as Aerobats, the Innsbruck Gliding Association, Flugsportzentrum Tirol, ÖAMTC, Heli Tirol and Wucher Helicopter
The Austrian Armed Forces with their transport helicopters – Agusta Bell 212 and AW169 “Lion” – as well as a large radar unit
Flyovers by two Eurofighter jets and a Hercules C-130
The Flying Bulls with the legendary DC-6 aircraft and a Bell Cobra 209 helicopter
Spectacular glider aerobatics and model aircraft displays
Everything related to aviation sports along Kranebitter Allee (glider airfield area)
The experience programme in the parking areas in front of the terminal included:
Emergency and response organisations such as police, fire brigade and ambulance services, the Samaritan Association, the Mobile Surveillance Unit (MÜG), the Austrian Armed Forces, ÖAMTC, Geosphere Austria and HTL Kapfenberg with a focus on aviation – all up close
Bouncy castles, giant slides, a carousel, arts and crafts and painting stations, as well as a sports corner
A colourful music and entertainment programme on the ORF Radio Tirol stage
